Day 4

Ok, it's 10:42pm and I'm under the stars since it's the only place to get a good signal for the internet.  The stars are awesome here, you can see how magnificent God made this universe.

Ok, updates for today, I'll try to be brief to get it all in.

Scratch for the updates, Kim Pramberg says Happy Birthday to the most wonderful Dad in the whole wide world who is 46 today she thinks!

Ok, back to updates

Prison sports  actually one a basketball game and the assistant coach Eldon shared his testimony and several spoke to him afterwards.

Taylor and Hayley taught the middle school group and it was a success. Jed shared a portion of his testimony and had 23 come.

The womens ministry in the park had 48 ladies in the first day, WOW!  Lorri G. is teaching from Job and Pat B and several of the ladies are doing crafts.

Susan Lamb shared her testimony in the women's prison, the First Free ladies washed the feet of the prisoners and painted their toenails.

Our medical team conducted an outdoor clinic in Ojos Negros.  They saw about 40 patients and shared the gospel using wordless bracelets.

Steve Hermann and Dennis Nun tau ight in the men's Bible college, and had 48 students.

We opened a new ministry with a vbs at Ojos Negros.  This is a community of migrant farm workers living in a desert valley.  The crayons melted after 10 minutes in the sun.  We moved everything inside and continued.  We had 50 children the first day, that was a very awesome start.  The vbs at Bella Vista park started strong.  Our puppet team is a big hit.

The care packages that the church prepared and sent with us will be delivered to Espigas Neuvas tomorrow.  We showed them to Javier tonight and he was blessed with the churches generosity.  He asked us to personally deliver them rather then sending them with Javier.  We will also deliver the bibles that Tom Schindler helped to get for Espigas Nuevas.

The team is holding up well under a very demanding schedule.  Please pray for endurance and the desire to share our faith.  It's after 11:00 so its time for bed.  Good NIGHT!

Day 1,2 & 3

Hola, Sorry for not getting on and blogging, but we have a very poor internet connection and we've just plain been busy! Friday everyone flew in just fine, we had our In N Out Burgers, made it through the border with only 2 vans being pulled over.  We headed to camp to find all the tents set up, that advance team is pretty amazing if I say so for ourselves!  Dinner, relaxation and a meeting on how the next day will be.  All of us were in bed by 9:30pm, yes parents, your kids can go to bed that early.

Day 2 Saturday, we had breakfast at camp and then headed to Ojos Negros to meet the pastor of the church we will be doing the morning bible school.  While there we discovered they had heard about James and had been praying for him, we had the joy of introducing him to the pastor, which he was quite surprised to see him here with us.  Also the team had a inpromtu worship time with the worship pastor.  It was pretty cool to see the team join in and start worshipping in Spanish.  Chase Florom jumped in and played the drums with the worship pastor. We left there and headed to Bella Vista Park to hand out invitations to the picnic and VBS.  It was fun to reconnect with our friends at Iglesia Getsemani.  Then to tacos at Las Brisas, you should have seen the pics on my facebook by now, the tacos were so, so, so good! Javier Dominquez and his family plus 3 men from the rehab center met us for lunch and then took us to a baptismal service in a river.  3 men from the rehab center were baptized and 4 from our team decided to be baptized.  Jed & Karlie Sorensen, Olga Miranda, and Andrea Wagner allowed us to share in that special moment.  We had showers, back to camp (but had a Soriana stop in their too) supper, chapel service under the stars and then afterglow.  It was a great day and were exhausted at the end.

Day 3(Today)  Church service at Iglesia Getsemani James Lamb shared an update on his journey, our special sang a couple of songs, and Carl Applegate preached with Olga Miranda interpreting.  From there we had the picnic in the park and served 450 hotdogs and lots of chips cookies and pop.   We spent time connecting with the community and playing games with the children.  Those Mexican kids are better soccer players than we are!  On our way back to camp we took the team to Espigas Neuvas for a tour of the facility.

These first couple of days have introduced our team to the culture and lifestyles of the people in this area. Those in Ojas Negros are the poorest we have seen so far, yet there is a church in the community that God is using in a BIG way.  We hope to come along side that pastor and encourage him by ministering to the women and children in the area.  Our medical team will spend a majority of their time in Ojas Negros area as well.

Monday morning we will send 5 teams out.  There will be a prison sports team, a prison women's team, a prison teaching team.  The medical team will begin their work and we will conduct 2 vbs's, one in the morning and one in the afternoon for the next 4 days.

The schedule is very demanding so please pray for strength and willing hearts and bodies.  So far there are no injuries or illnesses to report.  Your children are awesome.  Good night all!

Meetings are completed

It's been a great 5 months preparing for our ministry to the Ensenada.  We are a team of 56 who are excited about serving.  The truck has left for San Diego with all our luggage and supplies and by now should be over half way to Dillon, CO where Carl Applegate, James Lamb, and Scott Goode will be staying the night.  Pray for changed lives and a commitment to witness boldly.  Until Thursday evening from me.
Blessings,
Brian
